Semantically speaking, [codeblock] makes more sense, but since [code] is pretty much universal for a block of preformatted code (at least at every forum I've been to), changing its name or behavior would not only detract from usability, it'd probably break a whole lot of threads in the process. A better solution would be to create a whole new UBB tag to deal with inline code ([icode], perhaps?). That way, anyone who wants to use this new tag can do so, and those who don't want/know/care won't have to worry about a thing.
