That is just wonderful. It's the kind of art I really respect because it takes so much effort, imagination, and discipline to pull off. And in this case, it also takes teamwork as I see more than one monk there. WOW. |

Absolutely fantastic - you keep thinking "Surely it can't get any better!!" and then it does. |

All I could think about as i was viewing those pics was how just one sneeze could prove calamitous. I noticed the mask on the one guy, perhaps he was just getting over a cold |

Absolutely beautiful... but did you guys see the last page, where they brush it all away? Now that is some real Buddhism in action... casting aside all attachment to this work of art you spent weeks working on to brush it all away in a few moments. As beautiful as the mandala itself was, I think I found its "deconstruction" more impressive than its construction. |

Sand tapestries are actually very common in buddhist art because they take intense concentration and discipline let alone patience to successfully create a piece of art. And, of course... they blow it all away, and instead of remembering the appearance of the art they focus all their memory in the experience and process of creating it to contribute to their center . |

i find it to be quite reflective of life. things rarely work out how they're planned... you do what you can and sweep up the remainder. not exactly like what they've done...but close enough for me |
