Topic: Page Rank Related Spam (Page 1 of 1)

I just editted a post that contained a less than informitive post with a nice number (3) of links to different business websites, which happened to be related to the subject at hand (read: competitive websites and what looked like some link farm sites).

I removed the links because it screamed "I am trying to get better search engine results."

I am not sure if everyone would agree that my doing this was "Ok." I think there might even be a consensus that I might be very much in the wrong for doing this. My thinking was the if people know that we remove the links that the asylum won't get people putting mindless spam all over the asylum.

Am I wrong? or should all the MS's be doing this?

No thats fine by me - Google loves the Asylum and so people will try and spam it and I suspect such spamming will lower our rankings and make our links to legitimate stuff less effective.

Even though Ini left an excellently scathing comment I felt the spam should just be remove. Check the admin log if you want it back.

Actually, I left a comment to the message that WarMage is referring to. Alas, it was only slightly sarcastic, and not scathing. I had figured that it was probably page rank spam, but since there's not much that I can do about that, I just left my mildly sarcastic comment. I will try to do better next time.

Sorry, the recent post is talking about a thread that I completely deleted. I just re-read my above post and noticed that I didn't at all make that clear. Two completely different thread. You can check the admin log to review the thread that I deleted and InI left a scathing comment on.

The poster has demanded we remove all his contributions, less he takes legal action.
We have done so.
Now Tyberius Prime expects him to start complaining that we removed his 'free speech' since this message will replace all of his posts, past and future.
Don't follow his example - seek real life help first.
