Topic awaiting preservation: Burn baby, BURN! (Page 1 of 1)

Hey guys... What do you think to this... It's a holding image for one of my websites... (Not a fast one mind you so be patient!)

I've done better ones since to be honest but this is the only one that is currently available online

Well, for what it is, it's pretty nice.

Although, to be honest, you can only see so many fire-effects laden words untill it doesn't astonish you anymore.

If this is a holding image for a website, though, it would be cool to see the reflection not cut off, but extended all the way.

Also, the fire doesn't look as "fluid" as one might expect.

I know, this is one of the things I fixed on later attempts. I personally thought it was one of the better fire attempts to be honest, no random clouds or anything like that, it's all 100% controlled by me!

Seen this tutorial before -- what keyed me off was the relfection. Kudos on not using the difference clouds method though.

IMHO -- its like what CFB said... Its been done before. Nowadays, its hard to not do something that hasn't been done before. :P

Maybe sharpen up the flames just a bit? Remember: fire doesn't blur, though there is a halo around it.

It sure blurs when you look straight at it! ;-)

Thanks to Human Shield for help on that one, very quick and exactly what I was looking for!

I think you're going in the right direction on the second image, althought the text (or the pattern, I'm not sure which) doesn't go well with the rest of the image. Maybe try a different texture, or a different style for your crest and text. (Maybe something a little darker, like a granite/stone type style).

[EDIT] I noticed in your other post that you are going for a leathery book with inlayed gold lettering, so just disregard the above..heh. I guess all that really needs work is the inlaying on the book, but I'm not really sure how else to go about it if Human Shield's mini-tutorial didn't work. [/edit]
