Topic: Opening links in new windows

Ehum, Why is it when we post a [ url ] [/url] link when clicking on the link it opens in a new window?

I mean, Isn't it generaly agreed that allowing the user to control wether they want a new window or not is the best course of action?

Inside My mind

any decent browser still allows you to control this, and I think as a general rule, off site links opening in a new window are appropriate for a forum like this.

And have in fact been the norm on many sites like this for quite some time now. Almost all the browsers out there provide you with some way of overriding the page's inbuilt 'open in a new window' functionality...you just have to take the time to learn your browser.
