I've never done anything like it before, i've still got the plain old factory stock gateway case, but I'm looking to buy one off the internet. My only question is, how do you know if your motherboard will fit in it or not? Also I was told the motherboard is really the only thing you have to worry about fitting, is this true? How about the fan? I'm sure some people here have experience with this type of stuff.

It's being creative." -Steve Prefontaine

90% of mobo's out there use the ATX form factor check out this to make sure. You need to get a case that matches your form factor or the motherboard won't fit. If you get the right case everything should fit in fine. Fans should fit with clearance to spare. Most modders have issues fitting stuff in when they're using some wierd case with a micro or mini atx motherboard. If you're just modding a standard tower case then you're pretty safe.
