I would like to get the asylum's opinion on the use of frameworks. How many of you design your apps from the ground up and how many of you use frameworks?

Our devs. created a framework/environment for their uses internally. A while back we got some attention for it and have been reviewed in PHP Architect twice (once for the overall development suite, once for a particular function, "Reports Builder) and did pretty well (4 and 4.5 out of 5 stars respectivly).

Next month we have a 3 page spread in Linux World, and I would like to know how received this type of thing is to everyone here.

My apologies if this is vague, I am not a developer myself, if you have any questions about it I'll do what I can to answer them.
