Preserved Topic: Censoring the internet - BT starts filtering (Page 1 of 1)

Just stumbled across this article. Apparently BT is looking to install a filtering software (CleanFeed) for their broadband customers to filter out sites (suspected?) sexual child abuse, and just showing "page not found".

It raises an interesting dilemma..
I'm all for fighting these sites, but filtering my access.. That's just not right.
What if they decide to add other sites to their little filtering scheme?

Agh, if people don't want to see the sites they should purchase software or get a brain. I've never accidently stumbled on any website of the child porn type (this sentence doesn't mean that I've purposely gone to any ever; I've never seen one nor do i condone their existence) and I don't like people censoring anything.

I even hate a * being put in the word "bitch" so that it's b*tch. And hate even more-so *****.

I agree with tnt on this one. Censoring is dumb besides the internet is censored enough already. You will notice that there are a lot of sites about communism that are blocked by the government.

I have noticed plenty of sites on communism and much worse topics that are not censored by anyone.

I have not noticed any communist sites that are censored by "the government".

Nor do I see any way that they actually could do such a thing...

hmm maybe i just went to the wrong ones or am being paranoid i don't know but when i tried to do a report on the pros of TRUE communism vs. Democract I was not allowed on almost half the sites i tried on any computer whether there was a network or an 'unrestricted' web access
