So here we are, four and a half years into the 21st century. A lot of music has been released, but what is everyone's top 20?
They don't necessarily have to be in order, and you can mention songs that others have mentioned. It still counts if it was originally released before the 21st century, but has been re-released by a different artist since.
The reason I'm doing this is mainly to create a collection of THE BEST SONGS SINCE 2000 on my MP3 player by {{{obtaining them by legal means}}} but also to find out what the hell you guys listen to. I'm just curious.
Thanks for participating.

Wow, it's so hard to choose. Really.
How could I possibly select the best? They're all just so crap, I couldn't possibly.

Yeah, it's really hard to choose, because, well, most of the music I like is from '65 - '75. And really, a four year period for music...isn't much.
"...of the 90's would be much easier."

Okay, I'll throw in a few. Favorites. Not necessarally "top 20" material, but favorites.
(In no particular order)
(I'm just bored. Scrolling through my play list looking for songs recorded in the 21st century (there aren't many) and picking out my favorites.)
Cortez, The Killer (cover) - Dave Matthew's Band (feat. Warren Hayes) (live, The Central Park Concert)
The Model - Belle and Sebastian
Visions of the Sea - Elf Power
Motherfucke=Redeemer - Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Spirit Of The Universe - Don Davis
Black Cadillacs (or Ocean Breathes Salty) - Modest Mouse
The Stars Are Projectors - Modest Mouse
Sing For Absolution - Muse
The Zephyr Song - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Disposition - Tool

I'm sure there was a post just like this a few months ago!
Infact I like the 4 year idea better, makes you think more, you'd have to have a few songs from bands like the Strokes, Whitestripes, Queens of the Stone Age too, squeeze in a Dash of Coldplay and Radiohead, and how about some PJ Harvey!
Cheers,
Blaise.

Oh, and an addition, which I just heard.
Lover I Don't Have to Love - Bright Eyes
Bowl of Oranges - Bright Eyes
oh yeah. and the CD: "LIFTED: or The Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground," (by Bright Eyes, of course) is an excellent CD, if you haven't heard it.

I think it was something to do with the MP3 player thing. Not sure what you posted but this might shed some light.
As for the songs...they all suck. I am still searching for that band that just wow's me. I saw a bumper sticker that sums it up.
"No, I'm not getting old. You're music really does suck"
