Hi all, not sure where to put this post...

Wondering about software like this:

http://www.urchin.com/

Which has an option to pick a website and find out what people are typing in to get to your website... Im just wondering how does that work? how can it work? Unless they have access to the google database itself and some sort of log there?

Is there anyway to tell where your webpage has loaded from? Maybe u can get the previously loaded browser page or something?

Im not sure..

indeed - most webservers can be configured to log the 'referrer' - which is just that, the last webpage the browser visited before it came to a page on your machine.

This then of course can be filtered to only show search engine referrers, which then can be sieved for keywords used.

$_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']

For anyone thats interested... dang thats bloody easy to do. Now just need to parse the results depending on which search engine it is .
