Hi, people. How are things?
These days I have been thinking of studying DB certification for my learning mile stone.
I am a newbie IT man. You can think of me just-born-baby.

So my question is that XML is wellworth to learn?
I mean my company wants me to get DB certification like Oracle silver or something like that.
But a lot of IT articles are crazy about XML things.
I see those things whenever I am on the IT training sites.
But I am not that smart to learn both Oracle things and XML at the same time.
Even my company, there is not any XML work yet.

If you were in my position, which certification would you like to try and why?
Many thanks

That all depends on what you want to do, but working in the IT industry and *not* having a decent grasp of XML is probably a bad thing nowadays, more so if you're dealing with web or cross platform/language stuff.

Having said that, XML is fairly simple once you get the hang of it, so I'd go with the Oracle stuff for now, and just learn XML as a side project from web tutorials and the like. It's really not that hard, and if you don't learn how to split you mind across two new technologies at once you'll eventually run into problems within the IT industry. I don't think I've worked on a single project where I've not been using multiple languages at the same time. Even the last multimedia project I did using Macromedia Director also used an SQL server, XSLT (XML) Python and Perl for the network server.

Working with multiple technologies is all part of the game.
