Recently made some major changes to my Oldmanpants. With this version I was going for a super simple two column layout, using whitespace and text to define the main boundaries of the site. I think I like where its going, but it still needs work. Just looking for some feedback to help me get going on the site again.

[edit]In this version of the site I have disabled the ability for visitors to choose a skin.. There's a possibility that if you've visited before, you'll get an old style from your cookies.. Sorry bout that, I'm lazy and didn't really care too much about such potential issues.[/edit]

I should have another site or two up and ready for c&c soon too..

cheers, JB

lurch: it validates, its a CSS design and thats what i like about it i really like the site you have now put up, but i am missing some colors....dunno. all the grey everywhere makes the site look a bit boring for me. maybe you could apply some background colors to certain divs? or a background image maybe? just play around a bit
however, nice job dude

The page looks really good. Nice and simple, the way it is supposed to be Not too sure about adding more colors to the page. The way it is now the page seems very calm, if you added another color I think it would probably lose that. If you need to add more color to the page I would maybe try to make the blue color contrast a bit more with the rest of the page.

Only thing I noticed was that you have some styles defined inline. Would probably be better sematicly if you moved the style definitions to classes. Another thing is that you have some links that are only <img> tags. You should use some kind of image replacement method and have the image as the <a> background and have some text inside the <a> tag, would make the page more search engine friendly.

What does the 'add technology' button at the bottom of the page do?

Thanks Mas & Veneficuz,

The styles that are defined inline are from some of my php modules that display certain things that occur rarely within the site.. Didn't feel like making the stylesheet larger just for one div.. I should really build separate stylesheets for each module to keep it organized, simple, and truely modular.

I prolly won't get around to the image links, but that is a good point.

the add technology button is for the little random text at the top of the homepage.. "now with .... technology" just a fun little thing so my buddies can add different quotes..

will be tinkering a bit with the site in the coming weeks tho.. thanks for the suggestions

hey guys.. haven't been around lately.. busy with the new job..

I did update the site a bit recently tho and i'm wondering what you think. I'm now running a really really simple looking white design and have added some features and stuff since last time... most noteably the films and some creative content. I know the content on the site is really crappy still.. mostly just the regular personal blog crap that i always said i wouldnt do but I'm thinking of starting to do more Lightwave3d and PHP content... stuff that I work with every day.. maybe snippets, tips etc...

Anyways i'll probably redesign the look of the site again soon, but for now I'm almost liking the simple white/red temporary design.

oh... i just remembered another site i just did too.. will post it

cheers,
JB
