Hey all,

using the info found here:
http://mycroft.mozdev.org/deepdocs/quickstart.html

I just produced two search plugins that can be added to the search box of Firefox and the sidebar of Mozilla, click to install -

  1. OZONE Asylum search plugin
  2. Guru Gab search plugin

They haven't been tested anywhere but in the latest Firefox that I have running here, so feedback would be welcome, maybe they're of use to some. Or maybe not, who knows

Can't get it to work on my Linux box Then again...I can't seem to get my mouse wheel to work either hahaha

Do you think you could shoot me the .src files? I'd love to check it out. I have problems getting the search engines to install for some reason even on windoze.

Great stuff kuckus, I've used it a few times already to do a quick search for Photoshop techniques on both sites while surfing far from "home".

kuckus,

thanks for that. i ended up just rolling my own. it took me a few to figure out why the icon wasn't working...needed to be the same name as the src file.

i think that the reason those search engine extensions don't work with mine is because i have my install files in a weird place.

thanks for bringing this to my attention.

i now have a search engine for a couple other forums as well

Heh, I stopped using Firefox's built-in search bar as soon as I found about Smart Keywords. It's just more convenient for me.

For example, go to the Asylum's search page (with Firefox, of course). Right-click in the search field, and select "Add a Keyword for this Search..." Fill in a name and a keyword. Now go to the address bar and type the keyword followed by a space and then your search terms.

Pretty nifty, huh? And you can do this in any search field. No more plugin coding.

ozphactor: Thank you for the tip. Actually I find it faster to use a MyCroft. I only have to type Ctrl+K then my search terms compared to Alt+D ( or Ctrl+L or F6 ), the keyword and then my search terms.

Btw the keyword tip also work with any bookmark. That's pretty cool to create short aliases of bookmarked URLs.

kuckus: I had already done some MyCroft plugins ( that was before I found at that there is 700+ little plugins available ), but seeing yours and its installer, motivated me to make one for a site I administrate.

I usually just use Google with 'site:ozoneasylum.com'... sometime ago I hacked the google url and came up with a link to make google in asylum colors with the asylum logo up top...

....hmm, where did that thread get to?
