I just saw this movie (Hero) and I strongly recommend it.

It has action similar to that of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, but much stronger visual images and a really involving plot.

say, isn't that the new Jet Li film directed by Quinten Tarintino (sp?) I'd really like to check it out, the previews are very promising. and with endorsement from the asylum, it's gotta be good, right?

oh, slime, check out this post if you would, please

Yes it is the Jet Li Film, but it wasn't directed by Quinten, just produced or some such thing.

I just wish it was dubed, normally i wouldn't normally mind but the film was so visually stunning wasn't able to realy enjoy it. I may have to go a second time.

Yeah. I've had the movie on DVD for about 1 year now. It's supposedly the highest grossing film in China, to date, and it hit all the foreign film festivals about half a year ago.

Amazing visuals, though.

I didn't really enjoy it. Like the plot wasn't too great.

And I still don't understand why screaming and dipping your sword in water allows you to fly....

Guys, Quentin Tarantino had absolutely nothing to do with the film, they just put his name on the poster in the west to try and gain interest in the film, it's been out China for ages now.

The film does have amazing direction and photography, but to be honest I'm not a fan of how the plot evolves, and there are better examples of wire work out there than used in this film.

Having said that, I would definitely watch it, the whole package is well worth it.

Cheers,

Blaise.

Yeah, I saw some posters in Seoul, Korea, like three years ago, and couldn't find it around here .. now it seems, after a great success in the american market, they are translating it into spanish and making it into our theaters .. how nice is that?

Looking foward to see it already

I thought that Hero's plot was more like an oversea, teenie bopper, chinese soapopera... You know long, boring, and much bad acting. The only thing that made the movie alright were the fight scenes, and even they could have been much better.

But don't take my word for it, watch it yourself.

plot/story-wise it wasnt overly fantastic, but visually it was just incredible. i think when it comes to asian films (like this or crouching tiger) a lot of the subtleties are lost in the subtitles and translation.
