Was bored this afternoon for a bit and ran across the Internet Archive Wayback Machine again, and I know it's been posted here before, but it's still fun to reminisce for a bit and look through the old names (several of which still haven't been run off ) and threads and see how far this place has come (or is it really all that different?)...

hey i was born in sept 2001 (just before the big 9-11 threads hit) .. i didn't realise the asylum itself was just a baby at the time... there were already so many weirdos here by then!

Actually the Asylum was spawned in february of 2000, but it was hooked onto the Ozones.com domain at that point.

Before that, Doc had another forum using some other software for 6 months or so...

You can still read a lot of the threads from back then right here in the Asylum archives.

I believe he started the first incarnation of the asylum way back in '96 or something, and Slime earned himself the first post of Mad Scientist for fixing up a thread where someone managed to prematurely close off the table.

That was back in 2000 (or later), after Doc had switched to the invision UBB.

Before that it was the 'casual forums' software, which I believe started in the summer or fall of '99.
