hey all, my internet hasnt been working lately for some reason. we have dsl, so normally it would be all or nothin, either the internet works or it doesnt, but for me some websites work, but most do not. yahoo doesnt work, google does, but the majority of websites dont work. my sister and i are running windows 98, so we figure its the OS since my dads laptop and other computer use windows 2000 and it works most of the time although sometimes it doesnt work but if i try again it works, but i figure thats kinda normal. but me and my sisters computers the internet doesnt work, only some websites. someone told me to delete my cookies and temporary intenret files but that didnt work, then he mentioned something about dns info, he hasnt gotten back to me about that. i dont know if you need more information to make a diagnosis, so just say if you need to know more, or just give me some ideas of what the problem could be and how i could fix it. thanks!

ps my dad whos very knowledgable about computers doesnt know whats wrong either, but then again you guys are genius's (genii?) lol

Your problem descriptions hints at a problem with your tcp/ip packages being fragmented. Some websites (or more specifically, their routing) don't handle this well.

You'll need to adjust the package size (called MTU) your computers behind the router are using.

Get Dr. TCP here: http://www.dslreports.com/drtcp and set your maxMTU on the adapter connected to your router to something like
1400.
That should fix your problem.

so long,

well, you'd have to be logged in as root to delete the internet anyway..
