Topic: Best Real Estate.com Please Review (Page 1 of 1)

I designed a new website www.bestrealestate.net for a client and it is ready to launch .. I appreciate webdesign experts to go through the website and express your constrctive remarks on overall design (Layout, Colors, Graphics, Menu, Header, Footer, etc) .. Your remarks/suggestions really helps me to improve my web design skills..

Is it just me or is this guy starting to sound really, really trollish?

However, for the benefit of the doubt:

* The graphics are just terrible, especially if this is supposed to be commercial work. For one thing, the image of the house on the main is squared off and does not flow into anything at all. You might as well put a 1 px black border around it. And the falling leaves seem to just come out of nowhere and enter the image. Very tacky.

A faux wood effect frame with regular bevels? Ughh.

* I'm sure this was noted before, and you still don't seem to have gotten the point: using one layout/navigation scheme for the main page and a different one for the other pages is both annoying and confusing.

* Every page other than the main page is titled "Untitled-1". This is the real killer. You've got to be kidding me with this one.

Please let me know who paid you to do this. I've got some swampland in Florida that I want to sell them.



~edit~ After reviewing all of your posts here, I can see that there goes 10 minutes of my time that I won't get back. I second the notion that you are a page rank whore.

Firstly, I would like to point out that I'm not a professional website designer and I feel I could do a better job. I'll explain why:

Like Silence said above, the graphics are just terrible.. Terrible I say.. Yes, Terrible. The picture of the house in the upper-right on the main page does not fade into the design of the site, doesn't "flow" so to speak. You might as well put a little arrow saying: "Lookie! I Look Like Shit!". Yep, you are going to want to fix that.

Dude, let's talk about the flying leaves now! What's up with that? Where in the hell are they coming from? Is there some invisible force at work here? WTF!? They come out of absolutely nowhere. There is only one good way to put this, it's "Tacky" (Sorry Silence, stole it from ya).

And whats with the picture and the wood frame? That is basics in Photoshop. Really isn't even that unique - quite common in fact.

I'm sure you've heard this once before (matter of fact you did above from Silence), but to be sure, I'll tell you again: Using one layout/navigation scheme for the main page and a different one for the other pages is both annoying and confusing.

And now lets look at the page titles. Everything reads 'Untitled-1'. That's friggin' hilarious! That made my day, it really did! LOL!

I too would like to know who is paying you for this project. I could do a better job in my sleep! Besides, I have a car I totalled, a Voxwagon Fox, they'd probably be interested in buying it off me for $10,000!

Edit: I think I need my medication now! Where did my medication go!?

DL-44: Both the websites looks the same, but his posts are also the same. Even the typo in the word "constrctive" is present in all his posts. I'll repeat it but to me, fancy_mobile is a PageRank whore who absolutely don't care about our "constrctive remarks". If I were a Mad Sci, I'd edit his posts to replace his links by the URLs in plain text.

However if you care, look at ALL the messages posted by fancy_mobile. They are all identical. The websites are quite similars and have the same mistakes. He never cared to answer to the constructive remarks he asked for. During the time between his various message(s) some inmates took the time to review his websites, which shows that he kept an eye on the Asylum ... to increase the PageRank of his websites, nothing more nothing less. I wouldn't be surprised to find some similar messages from him on others forums.

If that helps, you're not alone.

I work in the real estate industry and I can tell you that this site would unfortunately be a big hit with a lot of realtors I know and even worse a better site than many I've seen done by large design companies that do nothing but real estate sites. However I am not saying that this is a good site, just that most realtors are impressed by a little bit of glitz and fancy graphics, they never seem to care how functional their site is, just how "cool" it looks, in that 1995-98 sense of cool.

Nathus: Alas you're certainly true. But it is the role of the design companies/web agencies to inform their clients about the importance of functionnality, SEO and accessibility if they ( the clients ) don't realize it by themselves. The public using the web have changed since 95-98 and so does the ways to use/perceive the web.
