While doing some research for a story I'm working on, I came across what has to be one of the ugliest sites I have ever seen. Perhaps not the ugliest there is, but I can't imagine why anyone would look at this and think it's acceptable to represent their company in this manner.
I mean, look at this photo. Or this list of properties. Though I do adore the instructions ...
quote: To print turn printer on and right click (with mouse) anywhere on above listings; then click print picture
Oh, and yes, to find them, they are "located at the main entrance across from the fire station." If I only knew what the main entrance was the main entrance to.
And they actually paid some guy to make this for them.
OK, kids, let's see if you can beat it. Commercial sites only!

I think it kind of says something about your web design company when you don't have a website to promote it......
I'm guessing that this guy is someone's nephew, or grandson, or whatever.

Oh lordy!!
Rushing Norm...whoever that is, he should be shot.
Has anyone at least written the poor sod, letting him know just how bad the site is?
On second thought, as a Professional WebDesigner, I'd bookmark this site.
"This is what one gets, when one doesn't hire a professional" *click*
"Now here are examples, of what I can do for your company." *click*
I think that will sell rather nicely.

Well, give "Rushing Norm" Brown credit. He at least can manage to operate a scanner. That's a plus, right?
Wes, I'm sending you the invoice for all the pills I'm going to have to take now to soothe me after seeing that travesty of a site. I think I'm scarred for life, and need to site outside in the grass with a nice jacket on.
WebShaman, LOL! That's a great idea actually.
EDIT - Wes, you missed this page. http://www.ransomcanyon.com/history.htm While not as horrible as the others you linked, it does show the unorganized mess the site is in overall, and except for guesses and assumptions, I still don't know where the hell "Ransom Canyon" is actually located. Since the history refers to Lubbock several times, I'm going to take a shot at Texas for a loc. Could be wrong though.
OOPs, looked again and it is in Texas. I just skimmed the text and ignored the bad picture there, since it was so blurry and.. bad, that I missed where he said "Texas." Go, go reading comprehension!

This chap kindly leaved his hotmail account to advertise his work except standard.
[edit] Norm Brown is a naughty boy. He abused the good old Ann and Earl and gave them an extra-ordinary web site. [/edit]

I like how the pictures are acually smaller than the properties in the image tag...nice and distorted
I think we should call him and give him hell about his wonderful design skills. I think I could shoot these people an email and see if I can redesign it for them. Poor people were just scammed out of some $$$$
Later,

My favorite part is the completely random hotspots on the front page's main image. There are six of them, with *completely* random shapes that don't correspond to text or images on the image map. (You can see the shapes in IE when you hold down on the link without clicking.) It looks like an image was just switched with another one.

Working in the Real Estate business I see sites like that or worse all the time. Its amazing how bad some of these sites can be. I honestly think some of the worst designed websites on the internet are for Realtors.

This site is a typical example of what can be accomplished with FrontPage. I think we could have an Asylum Hall of Shame filled with sites built using FrontPage. But we would need to add the disclaimer- ' ...just try not to look directly at these pages '.
Here is another candidate for the FrontPage collection: http://www.alaska.net/~arcs

If you go to my site ( www.mahjqa.com ) and view the source of the page, it says
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage Express 2.0">
The code is a mess; just look at the random <font> tags scattered everywhere.
Yes, I confess. I'm using satan's tools.
