Indeed and agreed and I'm close to the reluctant conclusion there will be no change until there's a clear case of victor and vanquished. And that near conclusion very much goes against the near (not-so-) perfect world that spins in my head.

We often hear that 'moderates' make up the majority but I think there must be something more than intimidation preventing the moderates from assuming control themselves.

The one 'glimmer' I did see the result of this latest act of barborism was the visible display of mourning for this woman. Am I wrong in thinking this is the first such public display of its kind for any of the victims? If there've been others I missed the coverage. Could this be the start of something? Probably not but one can....

I could go on...but am pressed for time but before I go and 'off-topic' I just heard on the radio that Russian Prez Putin announced development of a new nuclear weapon unlike anything
'others' now or will have in the near future. Someone might want to find an appropriate link to that and spin off a new thread.
