On my very first computer, my very first games were Zork and other miscellany infocom text-adventures. (I'm not thatold, but my first computer was ) I was kinda suprised to find the medium was still alive, only its now know as Interactive Fiction. Kinda makes sense. Anywho, I found this one gem which is absolutely awesome. Galatea You'll need a Z-machine interpreter for it, or you can play the not as evolved web version. Firefox users can get a a z-machine plug-in here. Oh and don't worry, this is a quick lil' game, but it has got a lot of features and replayability under the hood.

schitzo: I used to play Plundered Hearts made by Infocom... which is the same company that made Zork. hehe Used to play it on an Apple IIe years ago, it was another fun text based game. I never made it through to the end though. Those were some good times.

I think I had plnudered hearts but never played it. I have a HUGE collection of them in what I believe was called the infocom treasure chest. My absolute favorite was moonmist, a murder mystery in a transylvanian castle. But none of them had the kinda of character interaction you'll see in Galatea, then again, Galatea only has 2 characters, you and Galatea.

I ran across that last July, amazing game.

But it's anything but quick, especially if you don't want her smacking you in the face (which is quite easy to do, I might add. )

I used to play these back on my old IIsi. On the topic of Infocom games, if you havn't played "A Mind Forever Voyaging," do so NOW. I'd also highly recommend Trinity, Planetfall/Stationfall (how could anyone not love Floyd!?), and Enchanter. I'm still trying to beat Starcross.

Downloaded this and started playing a couple games, it's amazing. I never tried text based games before.
