So what are you using to hold/organize these infernal things? They're drivin' me nuts!

I have 2 different wire-type holders a side-by-side plastic thing that's a piece of crap and of course the CD cases are a hodgepodge..thick/thin/thinner yet and of course just the disks.

Has anyone found anything that actually works? Has anybody built thier own? A box on the floor?.

I've seen these mini-milkcrate type things that look not to bad but I think they're a bit too pricey. I might be able to free up a desk drawer but that won't hold all of them... It's nuts.

Your solution is???

Side note and off topic... I'm one grumpy SOB right now. Here it is nearing the end of November... I pretty much live in a rain forest and it has been raining.... nights are getting pretty chilly and about 3 hours ago I was stung by a bloody BIG wasp! Right forearm, inside, halfway between wrist & elbow and it's still burning like a sob... my hand is aching like hell... these Cd's are driving me nuts and I just really want to go to sleep but it just ain't gonna happen!! =( =)

I actually built my own. They hang on the wall. I had a guy I work with build them for me since he is of the carpenter trade

It is a pieces of 3/4" plywood on each end. Then there are two dowel rodes on the bottom that make a base and then one on the back . The cds sit upright and not flat like on your wire racks.

If my girlfriend would not have lost my freakin camera!, I would take a picture of it and show you. But, alas....I have no camera.

The ones I used frequently, I put on the bookshelf in between a couple of bookends., the ones I use infrequently I put in a desk drawer. It's not neat, but it works. I don't have a lot of space to work with...

Oughta get you a case of RAID for them wasps... Someone told me once that if you wet tobacco and put it on a sting right after it happens, it'll draw the poison out, which reduces the pain and swelling... My grandmother used to make a paste of baking soda and water to put on stings...

Well I'm almost done sorting out this mess. Thnx for the link C\: gonna make me one of those... have the material on hand... so no excuses. =) So far I've used the bottom desk drawer...made a couple of dividers..each column holding approx. 40 disks and those used regularly are now on the bookshelf between some pretty flashy 'books ends' .... 6 dead HDD's... one of them ever-so-gently pryed open with hammer and screw driver by 'hit it again Rodney' to reveal its inner beauty... ohhhhh and a thing of beauty it is. =) So.. getting there.

bodhi: I ended up using a raw onion on the sting and that did actually did calm the anger considerably but it was a long time before the ache in my hand went away. November..still can't beleive it. =)

Hehe, I built one of those things in grade 8. It's a bit small though for CD's but they work fine for floppys.

I don't know about a sig, I'll make one when I manage to get off my behind.

I use big ass hard drives.

I copy/rip CDs to a drive, put the disks on old CD-ROM spindles, keep the paper bits (that I don't recycle) in one of those plastic bins you're supposed to keep CDs in, then I recycle the infernal jewel cases.

For daily play, I just burn 'em back to CD-ROM for the house, or mp3 them, then burn 'em to a CD-RW for my walkman. This preserves the original disks and lets me select what I want to hear and put then the order I want on each disk I make.
