No matter what I view, I see these lines to the right of a dark object on my screen.

I was able to make a example of what I see:

I don't know how accurate that is, but it should give you an idea of what I'm seeing.

I don't see this effect on the Asylum because it's too dark. But basically bright and mid-tones colors give off those lines.

I was told we had a surge yesterday (or the day before that) so I'm thinking that could've had a part in it, in addition, that's around the time it started. It sometimes goes away or isn't as strong as it is at other times.

Do I have to replace my monitor to fix it?

I have had a similar effect in the past when a video card was going. Do you have a spare monitor to plug in?

Yes, but they're plugged into other computers... I'll try swapping with one if I can.

could just be a bad cable picking up interference. If it goes away with another monitor, see if you can replace the cable first.

On the bright side, you get a free drop-shadow effect with no processing required!

I'll have to wait to swap monitors, my bro isn't wanting me to swap with his monitor.

As a side note, I've been busy, so I can't come on as long as I'd like to.

eh I used to get the same problem well not the exact same problem but a bit similar before on my last monitor it happens on my bro's PC as well, try fiddling with the wire around the back that should do it. If instead you manage to decompoobalize your monitor just wanna let you know... don't blame me!!
