One would expect that sort of crap from Microsoft .. ..
It would be great if this happened at all their shows, they might think twice about shipping dodgy code.

sounds about on par for gates.
I have a video of it happening live on CNN which can be found here
I am currently uploading the file (2.5mb), but will be done in about 10 min.

I think you might find that the video you have posted refers to an incident that happened quite some time before this latest one.
That was the original BSOD incident that started the whole Gates Humour circulating, but still amusing nontheles

Don't flame me...
Remember that the BSOD isn't something you should hate. It helps protect your data from eg. faulty drivers (which is often not made by Microsoft).

YEP!
but there's certainly some other, and more user friendly, ways to stop a faulty program ... without crashing the whole computer for example.

The first one was pretty funny, when the pc froze on Bill, but I think they can be forgiven for the "out of memory" error. They were probably demo-ing the latest build since the code hasn't even gone gold yet, and things happen with development code.
The funniest part was probably Conan commenting that once Bill came in the average net worth of everyone in the building was $127 million dollars.

silence: the Media Center freeze was rather funny, with Bill insisting a little on the remote and ending with a powerful yep Hopefully for him Conan helped to move on.
The XBOX BSOD is understandable, but was pretty funny too. And actually the lead developper ( or lead something ) of Forza Motor Sport should have taken the latest stable build for the show. It was quite funny to see him customizing his car, showing how easy it was ( notice that it's almost as easy to do so in NFSU2 ), and when he decided to show that the customization of each cars is effective in the game and even online, bam!

Working in an industry where I take a large hand in the IT side of various conferences and shows, I can see why they should have hired me. I could do with the money that someone, somewhere earned to make a bulls-up of that...
