i've been following very slightly on this but it is pretty exciting.
Here's some info and pics of one of the moons of Saturn. Kind of neat that the moon has a ring around it too
info

Well, I have been following it avidly - to find out what really is under those clouds on Titan - WOOOHOOOOO!
Isn't it amazing, how far our technology has come?

I actually did a report on this in high school back when they launched it around 2000. I remember thinking that it would take forever before it actually got there. Apparently it's been forever.

I've been out all day so I am only now trying to collect as much information as I can. Does anyone yet know wether it came down with a splash or a crash yet?

[ed]Preliminary data indicate that the probe landed safely, likely on a solid surface[/ed]

Solid. Wow. Damn. But the Flows...I wonder what those are, and what is causing them? Something seems to be renewing the planet's surface on a relatively regular basis.

It also starts to go into some detail about the organic tar there is and, as I said here,:
www.ozoneasylum.com/23959?offset=80
it is stuff on tholins that I'm really waiting to hear about as these look to hold the answer to the origin of life on Earth and Titan's atmosphere is thick with them (I assume that is what is raining down to form the tar).

Yes, I remember that Emps. I am waiting before going either way with this. Of course, I want to , but let us wait and see what the evidence suggests, before we decide.
Good, solid scientific methods first, conclusions later.

I missed the announcement on the TV but from what I can gather there seems to be evidence of water ice and plenty of methane
Islands, rivers and methane springs - latest images of Titan (ESA)
NASA
Ah, in searching for another good link I found The News I was looking for.
quote: Liquid methane rain feeds river channels, lakes, streams, and springs on the surface of Saturn's moon Titan, images from the Huygens probe show.
Scientists have also recovered much data from Huygens that had been thought lost due to a communications failure.
BBC
quote: "I didn't know how to express how scientists felt last week and I ended up quoting poetry. You have to understand, this is exploration, not just science."
David Southwood, Esa's director of science.
Luv it

I didn't see http://saturn.esa.int in the links ... it's a good one ... but I only scanned the thread quickly ... Thanks from all my colleagues on the Huygens Science team for your great comments.
