Topic: Scrollbar Componant // Flash (Page 1 of 1)

Hi guys

I'm trying to figure out how to use the scrollbar component in Flash MX.
I'm able to put it in the textfield correctly. It appears to be ok but the thing is that it doesn't want to scroll. The bar stays disabled een if the text lenght is longer thant the textfield.

I'm using dynamic text loaded from an external text file.

Can someone give me a hand on this one ?

Why are you using a scrollbar component attached to a dynamic text field instead of just using a TextArea component?

O well... good question.
Probably because I didn't know about the TextArea component. It's my first time using components.

Anyway. I got it to work. I combined 2 components and everthing is working well.

I've found the TextArea component to be pretty sweet. It DOES add quite a substantial bit of weight to the fla, but it is pretty smart, accepts html by default, can accept a limited amount of css formatting (yes - css!), handles pictures reasonably gracefully - a nice bit of work and very useful.

The ScrollPane on the other hand was written by evil forces I think. Not really, but I call it the ScrollPain.

Haven't used the plain scrollbar component myself so can't really offer advice on that one.
