This is really getting tedious. Every time I load this forum now, even after doing many restarts, I constantly get errors when the page loads, when it gains or loses focus, and worse - EVERY time I press a key in the textarea for typing a reply. The fault seems to lie in the following line:

code:
<textarea tabindex="3" id="inputText" name="inputText" cols="72" rows="12" onselect="storeCaret();" onclick="storeCaret();"
onkeyup="storeCaret();" onblur="storeCaret();" style="width: 98.3%;"></textarea>

So I'm guessing it is an error with the "storeCaret" function not being available for whatever reason. Does anyone else have this issue?

Dan

well, thanks for the report.
Everything is working fine for me in serveral browser, so chances are the problem is at your end.
I'll need a lot more information to find out what's going on. What browser are you using.
Are you running any 'javascript blocking' extensions? What personal firewall are you using?
What is the exact code of any given page with an input box when you say 'view source'?
What does your browser display when you visit http://www.ozoneasylum.com/images/posting_input.js.php ?

I am also not experiencing any problems (FF browser).

When I visit the URL you gave, I get:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: g_handleifmodifiedsince() in /home/.anonkablender/grailgod/ozoneasylum.com/images/posting_input.js.php on line 3

I am using IE6 with Win XP Pro SP2... However, given the above error looks server-side, I would say it might be your end erroring for whatever reason.

If it helps, I am surfing from a hotel who I believe are using proxy software called WinGate. However, this hasn't caused any errors on any other sites at all, and I've never had a problem with your site before on this same laptop with same browser.

Thanks,
Dan

that g_handleifmodifiedsince() showed up for a little while hours yesterday, due to a minor mishap on my party.
Clear your cache - the file has long been replaced, just your browser is to stupid to realize it.

It's not my browser - it's the proxy server @ the hotel... I had a different problem with my blog being cached, too (I proved this was their proxy, not by browser cache).

Unfortunately, I can't ask them to clear / fix the cache on it, as I'm surfing using their wireless connection without their knowledge ;o)

All will be well when we leave here in 3 days time it seems, then!

Thanks anyway... and good to see the recurring issue wasn't down to Ozone Asylum at least ;o)

The poster has demanded we remove all his contributions, less he takes legal action.
We have done so.
Now Tyberius Prime expects him to start complaining that we removed his 'free speech' since this message will replace all of his posts, past and future.

This is a coincidence but i've been meaning for a few days to point out a problem.
Maybe its' just me, i might be stupid, but sometimes when i visit the forum i get the new messages icon to forums which have a post which is not new as latest post.
Is this how it should be?
I mean, sometimes I post a reply to a thread in a forum, then I leave, come back later and the forum where that thread is has a new messages icon but my reply is the last post.

Maybe i'm getting the logic of this wrong...

your replies are always 'new' for you, since we are highlighting everything since your last visit.
Honestly, the whole 'new threads' business as it is is conceptually rather broken and can't be fixed without relinquishing the 'the asylum only knows who you are when it needs to' doctrine.

Ini:
The problem a couple of days ago was indeed that php error I refered to above.
As for the other erros - I never get any of them, but then I'm using Opera - arguably a browser with quite a few missing javascript features - and never have any problems around here. Actually, this is the first time I hear anyone saying anything about this issue - so some bug reports, even if you can't always reproduce them, would be nice.
