Why are they even bothering with the invite system anymore is my question?

Invite away - I have 50 too

[edit: oops I refrshed the page and sent you another invite - I'm sure you'll find something to do with it.]

I assume the sheer number of invites knocking around mean that they may never officially launch it'll just reach a point where everyone who wants one will have one (or three - I might send myself some more invites).

Probably yes but it doesn't hurt mentioning it again, if this is the case.
My Gmail Drive is working okay also. Nice stuff.

I would need one quite desperatly.

The spam level on my hotmail accounts have gone through the roof since new years.. the usual spam but with large attachments.

Anyone got a spare invite and I'd be very thankful.

Ooooooo I'm going to have to try that out tomorrow - I wonder if I can set up a separate account for files?

This gPopper looks interesting too:

I wonder if it could be setup to access all my Gmail accounts?

More things for tomorrow.

I don't know about anybody else but I had a hard time getting rid of my 6 invites... everytime I gave away one or two it would just reload me to 6 invites... I'll never even come close to giving away 50.

Here's an idea - what if they are handing out a specific number of invites in order to observe:

1) ...trends in usage and numbers with each exponential increase in potential users.

2) ...product reliability/performance within predictable maximum usage limits.

Because when an invite comes from someone, you are generally going to be able to limit the account creation for use with spam. It becomes one step harder to create an account for spam sending. And it is then easy to follow the chain of the accounts setup to remove all accounts relating to a spammer.

It follows, oh look, all these accounts under personx are used for spamming, lets just prune this brance, and bye bye spam.

Another way this works is that it allows google to track a whole crap load of information, this can go a long way into explaining how people use the web, without ever having to look at the actual content. Just tracking the numbers of emails sent from any given withing a given sub-tree, that would be amazing. I would love to see a tree representation of the email network.

I can't even imagine what what kind of predictive models could be created by this kind of information. This is a dataminer's fantasy, and I am not talking the kind the harvests you information to sell, I am talking about those who sit in universities doing research.

I sent you an invite, to my understanding yahoo is notorious for filtering stuff as junkmail, so if you don't see it check your junkmail folder.
