I have been using firefox for quite some time now.. and just recently my work computer (which also runs FF) is getting pop-ups. Did someone find a way to circumvent FF pop-up filters? Normally a few pop-ups would not bother me but for some reason they all seem to be porn sites and I don't know where they are coming from. If anyone has any suggestions or an explanation as to what is going on it would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like adware to me.

I run ad-aware every couple of days... I guess I could run a reg. cleaner to dig deeper though. Thanks synax.

Usually one malware detecting program doesn't cover all your bases - try to get some other applications like Spybot Search & Destroy and HijackThis! and see what turns up.

Does these popup have the FireFox icon or IE's icon ? Though you use don't use IE, it's possible that you got a an adware, which ( as usual ) uses IE's engine to spawn some lovely popups. synax is right. One malware removal program is alas not enough.

Make sure you have FF configured properly. I don't know why it's not enabled by default.

Also try running some other things like Privoxy to further ward off attackers. This will stop some popups, some ads and most cookies. Well it deletes cookies on close so it really removes them all except for the ones you want to keep. Multi OS (Linux windows maybe more) You can configure it to accept some sites so your Ozone user name can still be there when you get back.

[EDIT] I forgot to mention that Privoxy can be used on a desktop or set on your network.

Also as a last measure get a hosts file that blacklists bad sites.
