I was hoping you folk can offer some help.

A friend of mine is a very young talented Visual Basic coder and is looking for work online.

I am aware that there are several online agencies that post work that you can bid on, but having problems choosing which ones are worthwhile.

First of all, can you recommend any such sites and are there any hints and tips when making your bid.

Many thanks

I have been trying to find a job online for a few months as well. I got 1 interview... but I know what kind of mistakes I have done, so my advice would be: not to forget to target the CV to each job applied for (don't leave allusions to any other company or role! ) then to call the contact person to make sure they've got it and show interest.

Here is a list of a few websites I think are good and relevent:

very famous and powerfull

not too bad

One of my favourite is Jobsite (from which I got the interview)

Also helpful: the Guardian Jobs (also see the career advice)

Don't forget to make a search for IT targeted recruitment agencies and job searches, you may get more relevent results. These are general job websites.

Hope this may help

Cheers
