Have their emoticon usage habits changed to the bizzare use of numbers in words?

Yes, now I can see what my children are doing and smack them over the head untill they cop on to how sad they're being.
That whole leet crap, I remember once ages ago I was laughing at something like realultimatepower.net or somesite with it all over the place as a joke, and a friend said "That stuff used to be cool", when was this considered cool?? Has it not always been a joke and a joke on those who use it?? When sites used to get hacked and were left with some crap written in leet, was that not a joke? like to make it look like it was done by 12 year olds?

.. and pwnd isnt part of it at all afaik. Thats like a new generation of crap spawned(or spwnd ..) from quick scrambled typing in games etc..

And the whole capitals/lowercase thing, isnt that like so it looks like code (e.g function GoFastMegaCheese()) And then some tools thought it would be great to do it everywhere ?
