Topic awaiting preservation: Opera 8 Beta 2 - what's cool (Page 1 of 1)

Hey guys,
I just read Opera 8 Beta 2 is out.

A quick skim revealed serveral goodies, things I've been wanting in Opera for a while now:
"Added support for document.selection and document.getSelection in form input fields.
Added support for TextRange with methods collapse, move, moveStart, and moveEnd, required by Google Suggest."

Finally, correctly working insert ubb-code in the Asylum! Oh, and possibly a real cool linkword auto-suggest down the road.
But don't pin me on that.

Also "Solved issues with XMLHttpRequest. Google Suggest is now fully supported.".
I suppose that means 'setRequestHeader' is now implemented, though I've not checked yet.

So... what is your favourite part about the upcoming Opera?

That Firefox has had it all right for so long already

Still, good to see that the competitors aren't sitting on their hands either and putting so much work into adding new features =) The JS selection support is definitely something I've been waiting for, as well.

( How about copying to the clipboard via JavaScript--any news on that in OP or FF? )

What really tease me in the changelog is the "Solved data:URI decode issues.". Too bad my quick tests still don't work, but I'll try harder.

Just on a side note, the 'insert ubb code' works perfectly with new beta. Hooray.
