Right, because when I went up to the university yesterday, everyone was just saying "Optimus Prime died of butt cancer, and they kept shutting the door on Spock's crotch again and again."

:shrugs:: Everything I've heard about that show so far sounds pretty bizzare (which of course means it'll be a hit).

I'd be surprised if children that age even knew what a prostate was, let alone know (or care) why they should get it checked for cancer in 30 years.

Heck, after the show they'd go out to the forest in the backyard and jump off trees or something. Kids don't care about health and safety, they care about having fun (and rightly so).

The prostate cancer of Optimus Prime, was mentionned in the "Robot Chicken" show of Seth Green and Matthew Senreich. If I've understand correctly, this show, which I'd really like to see 'coz it seems completely twisted, is a stop-motion show in the vein of the Saturday Night Live ( and probably with a flavor of Monthy Python's Flying Circus ) with some "homages" to famous figures of the pop culture like some super heros/vilains. The target audience is clearly the adults and young adults. I think the most part of the jokes and references goes above the head of the children.

Yea, it's somewhat of a cross between South Park and SNL. I think you can watch a couple episodes on the Adult Swin websote: http://www.adultswim.com/clips/index.html

The one I saw (possibly the same outline for all of them) was the robot chicken channel surfing for a half an hour or 15 monutes or whatever, and you're watching what's on tv, which ranges from a 3 or 4 second clip to several minutes (the Optimus Prime bit), mostly identifiable parodies of real shows done in stop-motion (as poi mentioned).

The day I read that article, I went to school and asked a friend of mine for recommendations for shows I should watch. Among the things he recommended was Robot Chicken, and I just happened to watch the episode that had the Optimus Prime cancer thing, it was pretty ironic.
