It's here now for public beta. Downloading it now. I'll post lator for a small "review". Being as it is based on firefox, it can't be too bad. (not to mention switching to the ie engine).

Oh, and I guess a link would be nice :

Ok, I'm browsing in it right now, and I have to say that I'm impressed. It builds somewhat on firefox's interface but something I really like are the toggable toolbar trays. That way you can have instant access to your toolbars, while conserving screenspace.

I don't like that they use only netscape driven search. (although I could be wrong)

Switching to the IE rendering engine is a big plus. Althougth you have to go to options every time to do it. The side tab works really cool.

Trying to download extensions and themes takes you to the mozilla extension site. However every time I install one I get a disappointing "This theme/extension is not compatable with netscape" . But so far not bad. I'm not sure I'm ready to stray away from my precious firefox yet, but new options are never bad.

can you feel that? In the air I mean? It's stirring. The drums are beating. Battle cries pierce the silence...

I think the browser wars are back.

Notice that NS8 beta is based on FireFox 1.0. Some security issues have been fixed since then.

My feelings are mixed about the possibility to switch between Trident and Gecko in NS8. In a way it's pleasant to not have to run IE at all, but on the other hand it encourages the lazyness of some web developers/designers and might slow down the embracement of the web standards.
