Topic awaiting preservation: Dreamhost turnaround (Page 1 of 1)

OK, so for a group I'm part of I'm considering signing up with Dreamhost's Crazy Domain Insane offer, at L1... if I sign up with this using the ever-handy credit-card what is the expected turnaround time before I can start uploading to the server? I've always heard such glowing things about Dreamhost from the other Asylumites, so what can I expect out of them?

I just recently signed up with them and from what I remember, it didn't take too long at all. It was about an hour and a half total.
They send you an email as the process moves forward starting with payment approval through web service, FTP access and mail access (5 emails total).
I believe that there's a small wait time for database stuffs too (creation and changes to the db etc.).
Most, if not all, of that info is available after you sign up. However, you could always email them and ask them. They're really great about replying within 24hours. That's been my experience anyway.

Also, if for some reason you don't pay the year or 2 in advance and just go with monthly billing, you can later switch to the year or 2 plan and they will give you credit for the setup fee that you pay on the monthly one.

Yeah, I find DH is pretty speedy with meeting their clients' requests. I've been with them for a few years and I have nothing bad to say about them. I'm not saying they're perfect - they make mistakes like all people - but they've always been quick at fixing any problems and will always take the blame when fingers need to be pointed.

credit card order usually get up and going right away, along the lines of Lacuna's experiience. Unless you live in Australia or something, then you just never know
