I think that it is about time that Bruce Forsythe was granted a knighthood.
If you don't know who he is, then read-up (re: knighthoods, British entertainment, and Bruce Forsythe) and give me an objective opinion.
If you know who he is and you disagree, then go back to licking Sir Elton's flabby ar*e and touching yourself when some humourless northern shite like "The Office" comes on the television, and don't waste time polluting another's consciousness with your worthless opinion. You were either born far too late to appreciate real character and talent, or too early to know what day it is, where you are, what your name is, or when the nurse will be bringing your daily whatever-it-is that you may or may-not have had the day before...
I think that Bruce has given far more than any living other to British Entertainment, and is far more deserving of a Knighthood than at least half of the previous recipients of this honour.
Come on people! You may not all be British, but surely you are all up for supporting such a worthy cause as publicising this travesty; being that one talented and charming English gentleman, dancer, entertainer, champion of causes, spouse of one Miss World, and undeniably most quotable television host of the century, has been denied his obvious due.
Bruce Forsythe for a Knighthood!
I am going to make more of this, and would appreciate any help in bringing this injustice to public attention. I'm looking for reactions here...
...and once again - if you don't know who he is, do a search and decide for yourself if this wonderful man is undeserving of the honour bestowed upon seemingly the most insignificant and facile of people. Really. I'm not joking now. Stop laughing! FFS, I'm serious!
I'll come back to this when I am somewhat more sober, and may even furnish the thread with some linkage. I doubt that anyone would have trouble finding out about Bruce and his long service to this glorious isle, but I'm also sure there are those who would be happy to help me educate the less well-informed.
In the meantime, accepting that such a gushing and thoughtless statement may be considered inappropriate (or worse, unpopular), I shall retire with all expectation of poor to negligible response, or even the possible erasure of this thread - though, I honestly feel that this venerable fellow of inescapable wit, talent, and character is truly deserving of this recognition and honour for his unique (though often emulated) service. The boat may have sailed with the passing of the intelligent and astoundingly-quick Bob Monkhouse, but we have yet time to make good for the heavy-weight champion of British entertainment and good causes, Bruce "Nice to see you..." Forsythe. Few have such reknown, and few are so beloved of the admiring majority., and few are more deserving of this particular recognition (including those previously nomited/awarded). I challenge anyone to disagree. Only Governor Arnie could possibly hold a candle to Bruce in regard to well-known catch-phrases - but then, can a future US President be elligible for a knighthood? I don't pretend to know. *-what I'm talking about.*
