Topic awaiting preservation: Businessman (Page 1 of 1)

Well here it is my latest sketch. I did it just for fun, testing what I could do in photoshop without references.
As I was painting, I got an idea to creat a series of them. Kinda like "Businessmen series" or whatever.

Basicly what I have in mind is a bunch of different men in suits doing something oridinary(sitting, standing, waiting, staring)
and give them some kind of dark quality, in a way. Not necessary direct implication, but more of...I dunno, I hope you can see that in the sketch.

For the most part I am satisfied, except for the background. I had no idea what to add, I sort of wanted to give it depth, but ended up making it flat and focusing only on composition.

Crits are welcome, in fact encouraged.

Any suggestions would be great for the future pieces(hopefully I will make them )

ohh and those who know me, I have switched my major to Fine Arts @_@ I am so happy w00t.

ohh and something totaly unrelated.

about a week ago I started working on this err...Evangelio robot from that shitty anime. It didnt make much sense and is full of mumbo jumbo so I kinda made a robot in similar design flipping off @_@

ruski: it's cool to see you progress!
anyhoo.... the businessman: the left part of the collar (as you're looking at it) should be a bit darker to show that it's folded down? and then the shadow.... the right ear of the shadow is off. maybe move it up a bit... as it is now, it doesn't really strike me as the shadow of his ear. could just be me.

the robot i'll wait to comment on. i want to see where you're taking it first. should be interesting

Too much about "Ties" =)

How about if I put it like this. Ties, even when clipped, pinned, stapled or glued are unruly bastards.

Where his tie goes over the fold in his shirt I think there should be a bit of a hi-lite/shawdow. And that part of the tie where it's going over the fold probably isn't touching the shirt until the 'tip' touches the next fold.

The 'knot' in the tie could probably benefit from a few subtle hi-lites and shadows.

Ties, generally, are pretty flimsy pieces of material..that while following the curve of the 'body' are 'never' in full contact with the 'shirt'.

I love his cold souless stare.

Yes, the work is coming along, but have a little consideration for the folks on a slow connection.

I see no reason to plaster a thread with tons of huge images, if people want to view the images, a link to them will suffice.

I like the theme as well as the art.
With the dark theme maybe you should change it from Businessmen to:
1) Financial Analysts
2) Lawyers
3) Canadian Politicians (i'm canadian)
4) CEO's

Ruski: just FYI, using eircom Irelands main telco, I can't see anything hosted on your site. But using any other telco it works fine, but slow enough. If you know of anyone else with this problem you should consider getting some other hosting. You may aswell get a domain for your site

I like the dude Ruski, very stylized. Do you plan to use the same style for all the subjects in the series? I think that would look good as well as "firming up" the various elements in the chosen stylization.
