A couple of months ago, my wife saved a file onto a floppy disk from Firefox. Now every time she wants to save a file, she has to close a series of dialogue boxes telling her that there is no media in the floppy drive.

The machine is running Winows-2000 and she's running Firefox 1.0.1.

How can she get Firefox to just bring up the save dialogue box without checking to see if there is a disk in the floppy drive?

might help.......Tools --> Options --> Downloads. Click "Ask everytime"

not sure if that is what you are looking for or not

I remember having a similar problem with another app on Win2k (Excel or Word maybe, but I'm not sure). It was long enough ago that I'm not sure what I did to straighten it out, so I'm not gonna be much help there. But it might not neccesarily be Firefox's problem... ::shrugs::

I have a special my dowbload folder on my disk, all programs dump their downloads in this folder.

If you don't tell firefox where to put the files it will try to put them on the last known place(s) if this is an Floppy it will run the floppy test to see if the file can be put there too.

Go to the downloads window (Tools--> Download or Ctrl+J) and if the file which has been downloaded to floppy is still in the list remove it.

For changing the download folder go to Tools-->Options-->Downloads Select "Save all files to this folder" and put the folders adress in the box. Make sure that this folder exists. And don't hide this folder deep in your system. If you have to navigate to it each time by hand you will hate yourself. Some programs don't let you open "Desktop-->MY Documents--> Downloads"
then you are forced to use : C:-->Documents and Settings-->Account Name-->Desktop\My documents-->downloads"

So i suggest using "C:\My downloads" instead or when you have more room on another disk "F:\My downloads" that way the downloads are always easy to find

if that doesnt work, try having a disk in your floppy, so there is no error and do a download to somewhere else.

or do a clean fresh install on firefox. uninstall, delete firefox directory, reg clean, install

computers are such a bore

Thanks for all the responses. Removing the file from the Downloas list did the trick.
