Oh, and just out of curiosity... doesn't Firefox automatically tell you when they come out with critical updates? I saw the "critical update" icon at the top of the browser and already had 1.0.3 installed by the time I saw this thread. I'm just wondering if maybe other people aren't seeing that icon.

Suho:
Sometimes after I update something, Firefox still has the "critical update" button there, but if I click on it, it says that everything is up-to-date and then the icon goes away.
It works for me, at least...

It seems to have broken Nuke Anything's "Remove selection" functionality.

Interesting.
Now, what's the difference between a simple downloaded update and a compiled update? And how does one go about doing the latter?

It's automated by the package manager for my OS.
Asked it to update everything and it drew in Firefox (since I had 1.0.2).
For Windows, I'm not sure what possible in-depth extra things you'd have to do (if any) besides the compile - such info is surely available on mozilla.org.

final ?! the filename returned by the link on Opera's website is "ow32enen800b3.exe" which let suppose it is the version 8.00 beta 3
Have you tried the "final" version ? I know sunet.se used to be a reliable server but I'm dubious to not see the final on Opera's own website.

Yep, it's just that they're currently letting it spread across the mirror servers before officially announcing the release on opera.com. Should be there sometime tomorrow I'd expect.
