Both CD's in my PC supposedly support DVD's. One is read only, the other an LG 52x24x52x combo burner/player.

This is the first time an actual DVD disk has been in either and there's no 'joy' in either. Won't even run up. Green light flashes a few times but that's it.

This DVD contains 'data' (club membership list/access and excel files) not video.

I've searched but other than a reference to DMA enabled or disabled...everything else relates to video... not data.

All clues welcome and appreciated.

thnx

First of all, DVD is not one format - there are several.

And it can make a difference.

Get a blank DVD of the type and speed that your DVD supports and put that in your Drive. Now go to My Computer, and right click on the Drive. Does the Drive recognise the DVD in the Drive? Does it show how much blank space is on the blank DVD?

Sometimes Data DVDs that have been written on another computer, cannot be read by another DVD Drive.

Do your DVD Drives read normal DVDs? Can you play films?
