Topic awaiting preservation: Input on new header... (Page 1 of 1)

I am wanting to change my header... I wanted to do something pixel-arty, and this is what I got so far:

I plan on adding more, like maybe a city sky scape or a mountain scene, but not yet, I have already put 15+ hours into that darn thing =)

From my twisted brain.

Move the rock close to the guy.
when the cloud is over the rock the 'rain' comes down.
between the rock and the guy a weed (dandelion like) quickly grows up to shoulder height at which point the sicle arm of the grimreaper swings out chops of the the top of the weed...falls to the ground... and it starts all over again. =) Shocked look on the girls face would be nice too.

Too twisted I'm sure... but fun anyway. =)

Thanks! I added my wife, that little bump in the grass (no land is flat ), a few flowers, and the Kansas City skyline... All in all I am about 30+ hours into that header... And it feels good to get some praise on it. I think I'll post it on deviantArt...

The sad thing is I KNOW I will be adding to it, but I am stumped at the moment, within a week this will become a 100 hour project, like my castle I did... Heh, and that's not even done yet...

That is my one concern... Right now it is at 44.5kb, and I don't want it any bigger... If I add anything else I will have to eliminate some frames from the cloud (at 102 so it moves smoothly).

I am thinking of making a night scene, rainy scene, snow scene, and some other weather/time based scenes then have them displayed depending on the time and the weather here...

Here is a new one, it has our pet rabbit and hedgehog playing around like they always do (And yes, I know we have odd pets)

you could cut file size a lot by slicing the image and making the cloud animation part as small as possible

even better would probably be having the cloud separate and move by JavaScript

Well, right now the header is just a background image for the header div... As for Javascript, I know about as much as a rock does about it... It has taken me years and years to know PHP as well as I do, and I nothing compared to some of the inmates here... HEH, I'll look around for something that would work though...

well all we're talking about is scrolling a div from the right to the left - there are probably tons of premade scripts around for that...not to mention many people here can probably write one up in about 1 minute

The only problem I could see is that I would have to split the image into two sections, foreground and background. Then place them like:

Foreground
Javascript for cloud
Background

Otherwise the cloud would pass over our faces... I just tried doing it with a script I found, looked great in firefox, but uber screwed up in all browsers...

last I looked at it, everything above your head except for the cloud is the same color - so have a div with that color as background, then the cloud layer, then the rest (and that sounds like a "bad" script)
