Emps, thanks for this, it shows some other point of views.
Needless to say poor Omarion can bugger off home without the slightest thought from me...
Who do some people think they are?
And this letters is not very clever indeed, but I can understand the
anger that is expressed. Not very well written... Who wrote this?

Unfortunately the two links do not work, could you fix this please?

Sorry a bit of cut and pasting problems there and I gave the saem link tiwce - fixed now and all link work for me.

Omarion's people have denied the story but his forum has been invaded by irate Brits (largely from Popbitch I believe) - its not big and its not clever either way:

Thanks Emps.
I agree people should spend more time ranking and fighting for relevent causes rather than for silliness like this Omarion story.

An interesting news article:

http://edinburghnews.scotsman.com/uk.cfm?id=763632005

The timing has been reanalysed and they now think all tube blasts went off within 5 minutes.

If it goes along the pattern previously seen then a second wave of bombings may be imminent - fingers crossed on that one.

They already have one guy they really want to talk to. I'm hoping this all doesn't turn into an asylum seekers/ID cards thing but I'm unsure why this specific guy has been allowed to stay in the country. If he wasn't invovled in the London bombings he certianly doesn't sound like someone we'd want in the country.

Interesting. There is also an article in the AP claiming that the bombs went off within 50 seconds of eachother.

I have read that there are thousands of cameras all over London (Under the watchful eyes...), in the streets and in the tubes, so one would think some solid leads will or should come of them. I know they say the CCTV camera on the bus was either faulty or not switched on, but what about the thousands upon thousands of others, especially those in the areas of detonation. Hopefully this investigation is not a whitewash like the 9/11 investigation was.

Another thing I have been wondering about is why this purported message from al Queda in Europe, which could have been posted by anyone, is being accepted as factual and seemingly the biggest traget in the media and by investigators. Not only did the site's operator claim it was a hoax, but MSNBC TV translator Jacob Keryakes noted that there was an error in one of the Quranic verses quoted, which does not seem likely of al Queda or any affiliate. Also, previous claims of responsibility were not removed from sites and in most cases were posted in multiple places. Does not seem very credible to me. It is not even certain it wasn't a hoax, but now al Queda, and also the war on terror is back center stage after months of waning support, not to mention more fearmongering of further attacks, much to Bush and Blairs delight I am sure..

As far as the impending ID cards, Home Secretary Charles Clarke said they would not have stopped the bombings. So thousands of cameras stealing away privacy was left over there were useless, and ID cards would have been too, yet they are still on the table? Why? What is their purpose besides stealing away what sense of privacy you all have left.

No- I'm pretty sure the war in Iraq is not a fabrication in the news. It may be misreported in the news, but I'm pretty sure it's real..

My heart and thoughts go out to all our British friends.

I have complete faith in the British resolve and tenacity to find a way through this horific time, and their ability to find these guys and kick their tosser butts. Hope we get to help.

Quick update:

If it wasn't for the papers having nothing else to say, last week seems about as distant to the majority as 9/11 - enough to be a topical issue, but nothing much more to gossip about. Most everybody I know is just getting on with it.

I'm waiting for the Press to turn down the gas a bit. While there is so little to say in this (predictable) early rush for juicy content, there may emerge a real news story once the morbid sensationalism and broad speculation simmers down.

At the moment, annoyingly, we're being told again and again and again that everybody is doing... exactly what we're doing. We're busy with life.

We've got trains to catch and buses to queue for.

We're also being told to expect more. It's like the weather reports - you just know it'll rain, but they tell you anyway. In a way, we've been carrying our umbrellas around for a long time.

I did happen to see a little thing on the news today that gave me pause. Cameras on one of the survivors from a Tube bomb, going to work this morning.

He seemed fairly collected as he arrived, right up until the interviewer (from the studio) seemingly pressed the right button with a comment deliberately worded to provoke his recollection, and asking how he felt now with this on his mind. For the few horrible seconds until the camera finally cut away, the poor soul looked barely in control of his emotions.

"Fine, really." He shrugged.

I suppose anybody would be a little upset about going to work on a Monday.

Blatant sensationalism and provocation of fear the press have become peddlers in, yes?

I have noticed since 7/7 is every talking head on television in the states saying we're next, an attack is imminent, and what a great idea it would be to give up more of our rights (more so than usual). Ann Coulter was on FOXNews telling Hannity that we "can't let the Liberals preach to us about such silly things as individual rights" or something to that effect. I almost kicked the tv, but decided instead to just flip it off. I knew there was a reason it sits largely unused. Disgusting I tell you.

Who writes this stuff, and why do populations continuously fall for it?

As far as an attack on the states, yep, within 90 days. I guarantee it, as it fits right into the gameplan of fear. Gotta keep fear high to keep the very profitable war on terror going. Gotta catch Goldstein, er Bin Laden.

The good news, chocolate rations have been increased.

Veteran broadcaster John Simpson makes some great points about the best approach (we have after all long epxerience with this kind of thing and, hopefully, will learn from our past mistakes):

Seems increasingly likely it was British born suicide bombers but arrests are being made:

"Silence descended on the carriage apart from people choking and coughing, then someone near me quipped, 'Well, at least we got the Olympics!'"

British born, maybe, but not British at heart. If they'd been truly British, they'd have apologised sincerely for any inconvenience before the detonations.

Well said! and on a slightly personal note, I wish people would stop refering to the London Underground bombings as '7/7' it really demeans it for me and that pisses me off! Hell even the London suicide bombings is better.
