Topic: Please Give Us Advice On Redesigning the Corporate Website. (Page 1 of 1)

Firstly we would sincerely thank those nice friends on some forums who reviewed our website http://www.sothink.com and pointed out problems in many aspects.

Now we are planning to redesign our website and we are figuring some general outline for that. Please help kindly us with following quesitons, as we want to be professional!

1. What in your view is an ideal homepage for a software company like us?

2. Can you suggest some required function/technology that a website for us should have?

3. We know we should avoid taboos, but for details we know very few.can you give one
or two advice on that?

We believe your suggestion will be great help to us.

Preferrably something as painful as possible. Use loud background colors (magenta maybe, or chartreuse) and lots of blinking text.

Ooh, I've got an idea! How about a function that slaps you upside the head every time you post here? And I think it would pretty cool if you had a web cam set up to take videos of this, and then posted the videos on your site. That would probably attract visitors. I know I'd get a kick out of it.

The number one taboo you need to avoid is this: don't spam your potential audience. Get back to me once you've got that down pat. I'm not going to be holding my breath, though.

Now I do not know the history behind this (being new) but you could at least give him the benefit of the doubt...

1) Your site should come with an epilepsy warning.
2) I realise that you are catering to your audience by going overload on flash but most of it seems unnessecary.

That's my two bits worth, but what the hell, it is not that I know that much about anything anyway.

flazza: it only seems harsh because you do not know the history. There is no doubt to give him the benefit of--we've been getting spammed by Sothink lately, so I thought I'd let off a little steam.
