I may just be behind the times, but reviewing the FAQ in my librarian capacity.. well, to make a long story short - i discovered Blue Moon Rendering Tools (BMRT) no longer exists.

I remember looking for BMRT because everybody said it was da bomb, only to find that it was gone. I did finally manage to find it and I've archived it. I believe BMRT 2.6 beta. If there is interest, I'm sure I can serve it up for a bit.

Pixie is my favorite. The way it does 2-pass ambient occlusion is wicked fast. Bit weird to get used to, but I like the speed and results. I even started a VB prog to do the grunt work, but never finished it.

I want to like Aqsis, but I can't get the DHO to work. For some reason it's not finding my includes. I've been all over the environment variable, render options, and XML things, and I just couldn't get DHO to work. I can hack it together with cut-n-paste, but that was getting to be a bit much for each SL/H file.

Take care, BMRT disappeared because of a lawsuit filed by Pixar. If i rember correctly due to some patent issues, around the time Nvidia purchased Entropy. I wouldn't think it would cause any major reprocussions but worth considering.

Noted, JSJ. The lawsuit is why I haven't been serving it up this past year or so. I just did some checking and all I could find were older versions of BMRT for Linux - no Win binaries anywhere.

I kind of torn on this. I so hate it when things like this disappear. It's like a piece of history is gone. I still have pains because Prometheus, a programming language that I so adored, disappeared and I didn't archive it. :sobs:

I'll give it some more thought.
