just wanted to let you know that "A List Apart 4.0 hits the deck" if you ask me, the new design is really something you have to get used to. |

Mmm, a web design site with a fixed width. |

Considering most of the people visiting their site would defineltly not be using anything below 1024w, I can see why they might have thought this a good idea. |

I agree, it's great, but wide. Not that the width bothers me so (I have a virtual screen dedicated to Firefox at most times), but the text column in articles just seems to be so much wider than necessary. |

After reading the comments while waiting for the link to finish downloading, I was waiting to see what all the fuss is about with the screen width. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I didn't need to resize my browser at all. |

My issues is that screen size has nothing to do with how large my browser window is. |

Well the width of the site has been a large point of contention in many forums and discussion boards. When people started using 800px wide designs people went crazy most sites before then had been designed for 640px resolutions, at the end of the day though I don't think it matters, the new A list apart site should really have liquid layout, or at least a choice, something like the Simplebits webiste has (check out the two buttons on the right side of the header and resize away!). |
