Heya,

Suddenly this morning my subwoofer started making these weird sounds...
one
another variant of one
two
they sound like walkytalky communications, but I just can't make out what they're saying.
It's been on for about 30 minutes, usually repeating one, but sometimes two...

Now weirdness is: This has nothing to do with the cable up to the subwoofer or the amplifier in it... I have muted the subwoofer and could still hear the sounds... I figure it's picking up some weird signal with it's internal wiring. Being a subwoofer, it probably distorted any voice quite a bit (it's built for frequencys up to 200 hz, after all).

So, can any of you make any sense of this what so ever?

so long,

Now this sounds familiar

In our previous flat, about five years ago, we always heard faint voices and scraps of radio programmes or music from our pc speakers, and I could never discern what they were saying either. Didn't sound like any familiar language, more like russian, polish, something like that. It wasn't audible at all times, though quite regularly...

Never figured out what it was all about (and never noticed when it stopped or even thought of it again up to now).

It's all those rappers trying to communicate with you from the dead. They're saying... turn your sub down... you'll go deaf...

I've never experienced that before, weird.

I have this too. I got some latin/spanish radio station playing over my speakers. When I moved the computer upstairs, it stopped.

Yep, it sounds like CB Radio communications. Do you happen to live near some kind of truck-frequented road?

ok... no truck routes near by, not even an autobahn - but then CB is not that uncommon in Germany.
Next airport is 60 miles away, no military presence seen.

And why the heck should they repeat the same signal over and over again - I mean if the other party isn't on, why say the word three times?

Well i get this all the time and it appears to be coming from the frequencies that the Cab driver and bus drives use as they pass the house. I also had s ome stuff coming from the TV as i use a wireless sending/receiving unit to send the signal across the house.

No Sig ?

You havn't seen Lost have you...

My bet would be CB radio, cellphone leakage or similar, could be Amateur radio as well, in that case you can be way off since that bounces in the atmosphere.
