Their music, too.
Even with that language barrier thing.

Used to have a bud or two that were big on Rammstein. Others as well, like Skinny Puppy, KMFDM, Manson, Ministry, and a few others I can't think of right now.
Got to see a video of Rammstein in concert and it was something else. The video concert kind of suprised me because it sounded good. Usually concerts don't sound nearly as good as the CD, but Rammstein has a damn good concert sound. And what DB said about the language barrier. I barely noticed it.
My one bud is still my bud, might have to do some catching up on the music front.

I listen to Rammstein. They aren't a band I go out of my way for, but they do hold a spot in my collection.
The language barrier is no big deal since I listen to German, Italian, and Latin opera as well, and I'm just monolingual. If the music is good enough to listen to, language is nothing, it becomes universal.

Rammstein is good stuff... especially if you understand the lyrics. As I understrand they are actully pretty cool guys too... not such as their music and stage personas might suggest. I find a lot of black metal or death metal bands are like that. Deep messages in a cacophany of electric guitar. Rammstein has the benefit of actually sounding good while they send their message IMHO... They have a crisp, clean sound that I find lacking in a lot of grunge style bands.

Jesus. I just realised that the above pictures, in the first post, were a sig. Shrink it, you're not going to make many friends with that after every post.

Am I the only one who think Rammstein are a novelty band mainly appealing to those American teenagers who wear trenchcoats and think they're cultured and hip for listening to foreign music?

All I think everytime I hear them is 'hardcore gay porn soundtrack'.
I don't know why.
But it's the impression the music gives me...
(no offense intended for anyone who enjoys either the music or hardcore gay porn...)

Well, I'd say that based on that statement alone that it's safe to assume that you have a narrow minded view of them =). If I'm wrong, by all means correct me.

i probably do =p
that's just what i see. i've hardly listened to them, but the music was decent if you like industrial and stuff, i guess. they just seem to have this novelty-thing going.

Don't let that stereotypical trenchcoat wearing goth crowd distort your perception of the music.
Music is music because of it's quality, not because of it's listeners. =)
