Just figured I'd take a couple to whine and cry and sob here before getting over it... This is how my xmas weekend started...

Good news: We had a 4 day weekend and I figured that be the perfect time to take my laptop (work computer) home and back everything up.

Good news: I checked the mail and my new dvd burner was there. I got home, decided not to waste any time and hook it up and start burning away.

Good news: It only took me 5 minutes to get it unwrapped from the industrial strength shipping material it came in.

Bad news: That was 2 minutes too long... As I was untangling the USB cable to plug it in, my computer mysteriously turned itself off, kinda like the battery had just died. The problem with that is that it was plugged into the wall

Good news: Being a new work computer, I'm not responsible for fixing it (as much as I might want to take it apart and try and fix it). So I email our divisions tech support at work.

Bad news: It was 5:00 on Friday, and Friday was a holiday anyways, nevermind the fact that it was 5:00 already. Have to wait until Tuesday to hear back from them...

...

So this morning:

Good news: I actually have an email from support waiting for me when I get in. So I take it by there and they look at it.

Bad news: They're gonna ship it back to (some laptop manufacturer) for them to fix it since it's still under warranty.

Bad news: I won't get it back until sometime next week

Good news: Now I have a halfway decent excuse for why I'm not getting anything done at work this week

Ok, I'm done whining, I feel better

Isn't there a Murphy's Law that has to do with this? The surest way to kill a computer is to realize you need to back it up and start to do something about it....
