Okay I don't remember a thing from Calc, but I can tell you that when you take the integral of your, uh.. 3rd equation there... The answer goes like this... It's possible you ended up with the answer 10 because you didn't distribute the minus sign throughough the... well... part where the minus sign goes. All I know is I got 8. |

I was getting 8, but thanks. The problem is that the equation is dead-easy to solve, but we're supposed to demonstrate the technique used in the second equation (multiplying the integral by the derivative of the function)...which theoretically should give 8, but it's not working out. oh, the first time i got 10 =p. |

Oh my God... calculus. I remember taking advanced calc in my first year at university (as a Comp Sci major... this was before I switched to Eng Lit). I remember taking it, but that's about it. I remember that the prof had this annoying habit of saying "OK" several times a sentence. I spent the semester tallying the number of times he said OK during each class and drawing a correlation between the OK frequency and variables such as the weather. I'll let you guess what my final grade was (hint: this class was one reason why I decided to switch to Eng Lit). |

Funny that you mention it suho, Adv. Calc was the most troublesome class for me... In fact, it is the most difficult class you can take in undergraduate math (well, besides multivariable advanced calculus)... But Eng. Lit... that's a bit too harsh I think... things like that shouldn't stop you from getting what you want, unless it's reading a lot and then talking about reading to students is what you want. |
