a few fellow photoshop addicts and i have just put up a forum for over-the -top photomanips

we need peeps to join and contribute!! free of course (we do this because we love it right?) and it should be a blast!!

Is it just me or do we see a sudden influk of 'newly admitted' members who seem to register just to post their - usually remotly asylum related - pages?

This just smells spam to me as well... if any other Mad Scientists agree, move it to the lab (where the spiders won't pick up the link).

oh, and holy9000 - that's an awefully ugly sig you got there. Just plain 'horrible. Read our faq on what a sig should look like...


(And honestly: A forum where I need to register to read posts? Though only the illegal circles did such things. And if you visit just http://shockchop.com/ you get the 'new internet site' page provided by your provider... come on. Then it claims to be valid xhtml... and the validator says it ain't... And uses tables for layout. In 2006. I think I'm going to get some fresh air...)

Except for full-blown porn there's not much you can't post here, so long as you give appropriate warnings for things that are NSFW or for minors.

This reeks of spam ad-just out of curiousity-did this place start off with thousands of members?-it seems to me that a sucessful site that has been blessed witha good community would be anxious to know of new sites they might enjoy-it's free-it doesn't take away from your site-and the thread was a clearly labelled as it can get

noone forces anyone to click on a link or read a thread-i tried my best to let what i thought would be an interested community know about a site i got up off my own ass and paid for and made-how many of you guys have EVER done that?

nice to see that the Assylum lives up to it's name and sorry about the sig-i'll remove it post haste

You joined here -- as far as I can see at least -- purely ot advertise your site. That is spam

You aren't trying to make yourself a member of this community, you're trying to bring people fro mhere to yours. That is also spam.

And we don't allow the posting of porn here for a reason. We have a number of members here who are minors, and we want to make it possible for them to keep coming back here. So how do you want us to treat a site that advertises saying "we allow the posting of porn!"?

you know what? you're right-i hope i can become a contributing member of this community in the future but the first time i ever found it was when i was looking for other photoshop forums to promote my new site -that much is true-as for trying to take members from you - that is honestly not my intention at all-we all know that there are many hours in the day for creative minds to fill, and noone i know sits on one site or in one forum all day waiting for posts to appear-most people visit different sites and i was simply hoping to let your community know about one they might find interesting-that's the truth-as i mentioned before the site is also free so i would hope it would not take donations away from any other site that deserved support-also i'm sure you'll agree that members that are loyal to a site will not automatically leave because they find another one that they enjoy

on the subject of posting porn perhaps i wasn't clear-yes it allowed at shockchop but only in the context of intelligent photomanipulation-as an outlet for creative expression

we will not tolerate blatant obsenity or any type of illegal content-the site requires that a new member sign a registration agreement stating that they are of legal age which i hope will keep out the minors

i am also careful to let people know in any thread that i post that the site is adult oriented

i am truly sorry if i overstepped the boundaries of this site with my post and i hope that if it is unacceptable to the community that it will be deleted-i am not looking to cause trouble or make enemies-what i am looking to do is help make an internet-that might seem like a stupid statement but believe it or not -we-you and i-are the neo pioneers-we're the ones blazing the trail through the new wild west and, just as it was back in the day, there are no manuals-so we muddle through and try our best and that's all we can do

anyway there's a contest for a 50$ gift certificate to Barnes&Noble as a prize for the most shocking chop of the month-maybe some of you could use the thing and want to give it a shot-it's free as i said-if not, that's cool-i don't want to cause a federal incident

meanwhile in the spirit of becoming a part of this community i would like to offer to help anyone with questions on photoshop techniques - i have been photoshopping now for over a year and, while i'm no expert, i think i have a pretty good handle on the program-anyone needing any help can pm me here or at shockchop

Honestly, we could use a few "shocking" ppl around here, just to jazz the place up a bit. But we won't tollerate porn or spam here. If you want to join and participate in our little community here, please do, but most ppl use a sig to link to sites, not whole posts. So if you want to advertise your site, make a sig for it. Change the sig for your contests. We are 99% about having fun here.
