thanks! glad you like it!
about the wheels turning. yes, there is still a lot to do, and correctly turning wheels will be added when i integrate a better physics engine.
oh, and post your times here, so we can see who is the best t-Racer.
edit:
good times are:
course 1: 30 seconds
course 2: 35 seconds
course 3: 80 seconds

what graphics card do you have NoJive?
you need at least one that has multitexture support.

That was pretty fun, but the last course is insanely hard compared to the first two--or maybe it's just me. I did the first two courses in 48 seconds and 46.1 seconds, respectively, on my first runs through. Not great times, of course, but those were my first ever attempts. I think I tried the third course about half a dozen times and never finished. I'm pretty sure I've gotten close, but it's tough to tell how far along you are.
Hey... you know what would be even cooler than turning wheels? A mini-map that shows where you are on the course and where the gates are ('cause if you miss a gate you're pretty much screwed, at least on the third course).
Also, those cars seem to have really horrible turning ratios, especially if the speed is in kph.
Just some ideas for you. Had lots of fun playing. Great job!

nojive, yes the radeon should do fine! the matrox definitely not!
make sure you run it on the monitor with the radeon.
suho, thanks for the feedback! those are some nice ideas. yes the third course was meant to be pretty tough. try not to go too fast and pick up some blue clocks (+5 seconds time).

Dang, man, that's really hard. I always make it to that line of power boosts that sits across the course, but I can never make it to the next checkpoint. Maybe it's because I don't have enough time stored up by then, I don't know. I've tried to pick up all the blue clocks I can, but apparently it's not enough.
[Edit: Yes! I finally made it! A super crappy time of 124.7 seconds, but I finished!
Man, that was definitely challenging. I had to pick up every clock and (obviously) hit every checkpoint (speaking of checkpoints, I noticed that you don't actually have to go through the gates to pick up the time bonus... not sure if that was intentional or not). I pretty much avoided the power boosts, except on the straightaway, because they have a tendency of launching you over the side of the course and by the time you figure out which way you're supposed to be going, you're screwed.
In retrospect, it probably would have helped if I paid more attention to the spinning course map at the beginning. ]

Yay! I made it through all three courses on my first run through today. My times:
1st course: 43.4
2nd course: 44.6
3rd course: 112.9
Shaved quite a bit off my time for the third course, despite having a rather sloppy run and missing a few clocks. Not sure why I had such a hard time yesterday. Still, I'm wondering: are those times you posted up there as "good times" your records? I can see maybe shaving a few seconds off my times for the first two courses, but I can't imagine ever getting down to 30 and 35 seconds (especially on the first course). I could probably shave a good deal of time off of the third course, but 80 seconds? I don't know.
Some more ideas (not because I expect that you'll implement them all, but because you asked for feedback):
A lot of racing games have an arrow that appears on the screen pointing you in the right direction if you get off course. That might be a nifty idea.
Those question mark blocks are pretty annoying. As far as I can figure, they reverse your steering or something like that. Or maybe they do different things, but after I hit a few I avoided them like the plague. Maybe taking out the question mark boxes and putting in smaller obstacles (like rocks) that you can run over but which will damage your car.
Which leads me to my next idea: it would be kind of cool if you could save up those wrenches and then press a key to use one to fix damage. You'd probably need to reduce the number of wrenches for balance then.
But I'm getting carried away. Just some ideas to think about.
[Edit: I take it back about the times being impossible...
That time required a little, shall we say, "creative driving."
Although I'm not sure if I would actually be able to shave an entire second off that time. It took me quite a few runs to get down from 31.3 to 31.0.
I'll have to tackle the other courses in a similar fashion later. Right now, I've got to get to work. ]

I think I've got the hang of this now... I shaved nearly a minute(!) off of my time for the third course:
Of course, I ended up burying my car in a hillside. The things we do for speed...

suho! those are some great times! glad you enjoy it that much!
and also some good game design ideas! thank you!
yes, often it is best to take huge shortcuts. anything is allowed, as long as you pass all checkpoints and it says "You Win" at the end
btw: if you press F1 you get some kind of helpscreen, which shows you some special keys. for example you can enter micromachines mode by pressing c or going to fullscreen by pressing f.

I've always been a big fan of racing games, and this is a pretty good start to a decent engine you have here. I'll be looking forward to future developments, especially the aforementioned upgrade in the physics engine. I have to say that I'm really impressed, though. I would love to be able to design games like this!
The F1 key is a helpful tip. The different camera angles are pretty neat, too.
